This resort is virtually bursting at the seams with sensational design, top quality materials and good, understated, taste. Superbly thought through, easy on the eyes and very eco-conscious. However, all that would mean very little if it wasn't for the kindhearted, helpful people working here. They fill Alila Hadahaa with life and smiles, making this your home away from home in minutes after you have arrived. Mainly Maldivian the staff is made up of many nationalities; like a Paradise UN. One of the photos above is of sweet Kirsa and Maria, the Balinese girls that work in Alilas award winning spa by Mandara. Best spa experience we have ever had. Sublime.

GM, charming aussie Greg Williams and smiling, energetic Sales & Marketing Director Eugene Feklistov make a great team on Alila. A huge Thank You to you both for taking such good care of us. Nanda from Dehli works in Bell's Bar and does a fantastic job and the forever bouncy Head chef Bastian will no doubt improve the already delicious food with all his ideas and his passion. There are so many..like Nazim, entertaining us with history and legends from the Maldives. I am hoping to talk him into writing an article or two for this site. :-)

The natural setting is the ultimate. Powdersoft, chalky white beaches, an unspoiled lusher than lush interior and -what has to be - the best house reef in the country. You can snorkle around the whole island in just over 2 hours and marvel at acres of living corals and a constant drop off to watch for sharks, rays and turtles. The kind of loveliness that gets me a bit choked, to be honest.

Alila Villas Hadahaa opened as late as august 2009 and hit the ground running. It has received hit reviews so far and I don't see that changing in the future. I rather think Alila IS the future. I adore it beyond words. A gem with a soul. If you've got the dough - go!
