During our second week here in the Maldives, we return to the very first island we visited several years ago. Verdant Filitheyo with the fantastic house reef.

Or wait, what if husrevet would not be as great as we remember it? Or that the buffet would not be so good?

Concern is warranted. Filitheyo was our first impression of the Maldives. We had nothing to compare with. But after that, on the contrary, we have compared everything with Fili. Is that fair? No, not if we had a romanticized image of Filitheyo.

But then lands sjöflygplanet at a floating pier, a good distance away from the island. Just like last time. And then as now, there will be a dhoni and pick and drive us the last bit. We will be as welcomed as last. With fresh coconut milk. Served in, of course, a fresh coconut.

And not least: the house reef is just as fantastic as we remembered it. Although we now have so many more reefs to compare with. Here we are swimming in the middle of schools of hundreds or thousands of colorful fish. The first day we were joined by a turtle for 15-20 minutes.

When I talk to Olli, head of the dive center on the island, he told me that only a few weeks ago, whale sharks had been sighted. At the house reef! Consider that, just swim out 15-20 meters and then get the chance to see these giants swim past!

The what about the food, you wonder. Well then, it is just as good now as then. Filitheyo is well known for their kitchen. The food and the presentaion is truly in a class by itself.

The staff is relaxed and quick to help, always with a smile. And you can tell, that they are accustomed to having young children as guests. When we opened the door to our bungalow, a children bed were already wainting for our baby boy. So, no need to bring a travel bed across half the globe (as we did).

And when we first day came to the restaurant, what was waiting at our buffet table? A child seat. Without having to ask for one. Impressive.

Filitheyo is a fairly large island with lush greenery. I had actually forgotten how many palm trees that exist on the island. Fili is beautiful, the diving is fantastic and the food likewise.

Here you get a big chunk out of paradise!
