What fantastic work that has been done on this classic resort. A thorough cleanup of the accomodation and a completely new part of the resort with stunning Water Villas, infinity pool and more. The Glorious beaches, the lush foliage and - last but not least - one of the best house reefs in the Maldives - are still there. A winner with a human price tag.
I have to admit that I held my breath for this one....but this was soon followed by a really wide smile when I got to see how sensibly Vilamendhoo has been upgraded. On an island of this size there is more than enough space to create two different areas, even if they are very discreetly separated. Just the way it should be. One part has a pool and restaurant mainly directed at families and one area for the romance seeking guests. They have their own buffet restaurant, the tastefully decorated Ahima and an inviting sundeck with an infinity pool perfectly located for sunset watchin´g.
All the amazing dive sites and the snorkeling is in place still and the resort arranges boat trips where you get the chance to see mantas as well as the elusiv whale shark. South Ari Atoll is somewhat of a hangout for them.
The food has, apparently, gotten even better than before. "As good a buffet as Filitheyo" I've been told. Well, well..that is a really good sign. Vilamendhoo looks so good in its new suit. I love it and can't wait to go!
